Focus World Picks Up David Cronenberg's 'Maps to the Star


Focus World has picked up U.S. distribution
rights to David Cronenberg's drama Maps to the
Stars . The studio is targeting a early 2015
release for the project.
John Cusack portrays Stafford Weiss, a
psychotherapist who reunites with his daughter
Agatha ( Mia Wasikowska ) after her release from
a sanatorium where she was being treated for
criminal pyromania. Robert Pattinson co-stars
as a limo driver and aspiring actor who
becomes close to Agatha, with Julianne Moore
playing the role of Stafford's wife, who wants to
remake a 1960's movie that made her mother a
star. Julianne Moore earned best actress honors
for the role at the Cannes International Film
Festival in May.
David Cronenberg directed the film from a script
by Bruce Wagner. Martin Katz, Saïd Ben Saïd ,
Michel Merkt , Renee Tab and Benedict Carver
produced the project. The film will be screening
at the Toronto International Film Festival and
the New York Film Festival later this month
