Dracula Untold' Confirmed as First Universal Monsters Reboot

Dracula Untold producer Alissa Phillips has now confirmed yesterday's report that the horror reboot will in fact be the first in the Universal Monsters Reboot series. The franchise was announced back in July and will bring all of the classic Universal Pictures ghouls together in one shared universe that will eventually lead to an all-star movie not unlike Marvel's The Avengers.
Hey U Guys caught up with Alissa Phillips at the U.K. premiere of Dracula Untold, where she said that the movie wasn't initially set to be a part of the franchise. Here's how she explains it:
"I was really excited to be part of that. When we started out we weren't [part of the series], but then we found out that they were going to do it. Working with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan who are very much a part of creating The Mummy and the other ones...it's been fun to be a part of that."
The report from yesterday stated that the tie-in scene comes at the very end, where Dracula (Luke Evans) is seen at a market in modern day. The sequence is believed to be a "prologue" to director Alex Kurtzman's The Mummy reboot, which was originally set to be the first title launched under the Universal Monsters reboot banner, which is also set in modern-day.
It remains to be seen if Luke Evans himself will actually appear in The Mummy, or how each of these movies will be connected to one another.
Dracula Untold comes to theaters October 10th, 2014 and stars Luke Evans, Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Charles Dance, Samantha Barks, Zach McGowan, Charlie Cox, Paul Kaye. The film is directed by Gary Shore.
