'Planet of the Apes 3' Moves to Summer 2017

Last night, 20th Century Fox decided to have a little bit of
fun with it's release schedule, mixing up a couple of dates,
moving others and announcing new ones. One move that
shouldn't come as a surprise, but may disappoint is that
Planet of the Apes 3 , the follow-up to this past summer's hit
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , is being moved a full year
away from its original release date. While this means we'll
now have to wait two years instead of one, it also means
we'll likely get a better, less rushed movie.
Planet of the Apes 3 , which will bring back director Matt
Reeves and Andy Serkis as Caesar, was originally set for
release in July 2016, but will now hit on July 14, 2017. The
story will continue Caesar's journey as the apes continue to
conquer the world after a simian flu has wiped out most of
mankind.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has pulled in over $700
million at the worldwide box office, and is the highest
grossing film in the entire franchise, which began in 1968
with the original Planet of the Apes . Planet of the Apes 3
takes The Fantastic Four 2 's original release date, with that
Marvel sequel being moved to June 2, 2017. At this time,
Planet of the Apes 3 has no direct competition, but it does
open one week after Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean:
Dead Men Tell No Tales finally sets sail on July 7, 2017.
