'Batman v Superman': Stormtrooper Caught Stealing Batmobile?!

Yesterday, it was widely reported that a Batmobile had gone missing from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set. While no official word came out of Warner Bros. about the incident, it was believe to have been stolen by Detroit locals. That may not actually be the case, according to director Zack Snyder. Continuing his running joke that brings Star Wars: Episode VII characters into the world of Gotham and Metropolis, the filmmaker places all the blame for the purloined vehicle on an Imperial Stormtrooper.






He goes on to include this key piece of evidence:


 It's not quite clear if the stolen Batmobile was also a joke, leaked so that Zack Snyder could continue sharing his geeky sense of humor with the world, or if it was purely a rumor to begin with that the director took advantage of. This is just the latest in a long line of running twitter jokes that have seen Superman taking on the guise of a Sith warrior, Batman meeting Artoo in the desert, and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Responding with their own image of C3PO protecting Gotham City. You can check out the full gallery of photos here:
