'Ghostbusters': Kristen Wiig Responds to Bill Murray's Cast Idea

Over the weekend, while Bill Murray was
promoting his upcoming dramedy St. Vincent at
the Toronto International Film Festival, the
original Ghostbuster was asked his thoughts on
the idea of an all-girl Ghostbusting team for the
impending Ghostbusters reboot. Not surprisingly,
he was quite down with the idea. He even listed
a number of potential female Ghostbusters that
he wants to see strap on a proton pack.
His idea for the perfect cast included St. Vincent
co-star Melissa McCarthy, Linda Cardellini,
Emma Stone (whom he shared a memorable
Ghostbusters moment with in Zombieland) and,
of course, Kristen Wiig.
Kristen Wiig arrived in Toronto today, and heard
about the casting idea from the press. In town
to support her own dramedy The Skeleton
Twins with Bill Hader , she commented on Bill
Murray 's ringing endorsement,
"That's very flattering. I guess they're making
one from what I hear, which is pretty great...I
will do whatever Bill Murray tells me to."
Bill Hader added,
"I don't want to pressure you...But you should
do it... And you should have a friend, who's like
a guy, who has to carry around your proton
pack."
It was rumored a few months back that after
Ivan Reitman left the Ghostbusters reboot as
director, it was taking on an all-female slant.
That has never been confirmed by Sony. Recent
reports claim that Bridesmaids director Paul
Feig was in the running to direct. Is it possible
that he will reteam with Bridesmaids stars
Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy?
Ghostbusters comes to theaters in 2016 .
