Chris Evans Talks 'Avengers 2' Rumors and Passing the Shield

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier behind
him, Chris Evans still has Avengers: Age of Ultron
and Captain America 3 left to go, along with one
last as yet undisclosed movie on his Marvel
contract. In the midst of his run as Steve Rogers,
the actor also managed to make his directorial
debut with Before We Go, which he has brought to
the Toronto International Film Festival. There,
MTV caught up with him to chat about his future
as Captain America and his thoughts on passing
the Shield.
The actor isn't allowed to say much, even though
Avengers: Age of Ultron has wrapped. We won't
know any more about the plot until we get closer
to the release date. But Chris Evans did have this
to offer, teasing the storyline behind Captain
America 3 as well:
"That's the beauty of the Marvel (Cinematic)
Universe... It's this giant web of plot, where
everything is connected to everything else
whether it's Thor, Iron Man or Avengers,
everything is kind of involved. So that's the
beautiful thing and especially for the fanboys who
understand these plotlines. Every time a new film
is announced, there is this surge of excitement to
where they are gonna go. I think with Cap 3,
we're going to continue this excitement."
There is a rumor SPOILER ALERT!!! That Cap will
be leading his own new team of Avengers at the
end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. What does Chris
Evans have to say about the rumor?
"What do I think about this, what can I say about
this? You wanna give something! Marvel doesn't
disappoint. Whatever you're hoping for, you're
probably going to get."
Then the most prominent question about Captain
America 3 came up. Will Steve be passing on the
shield?
"Who's handing off the shield? Don't take my job
from me prematurely dude. I'm sure it'll happen
at some point, all good things have to come to
an end. But I'm really happy playing the
character."
